Gladsaxe, Denmark GLADSAXE:

Gladsaxe Municipality is one of the largest in Denmark with about 62,000 inhabitants. The municipality is known for the good common conditions created for children and the young as well as for the older generation.
With about 30,000 dwellings, numerous associations and societies, a rich cultural life and with lovely natural surroundings Gladsaxe is a good setting for the individual's everyday life at work and at leisure.

The municipality is situated in Copenhagen County and covers an area of about 2,500 ha, half of which are housing sectors. Gladsaxe has an extensive motorway system and other good traffic connections. With about 34,000 jobs, Gladsaxe is the municipality in the metropolitan area (outside Copenhagen) which has the most jobs to offer. There are more than 2,800 companies in Gladsaxe. 3 large industrial districts have been established in the municipality.

Gladsaxe's city arms are from 1948 and the 4 clover leaves symbolize the municipality's origin as a rural district council with the 4 villages Buddinge, Gladsaxe, Mørkhøj, and Bagsværd. The swallow may symbolize the municipality's rapid growth. The first parish council was elected in 1841.

The differences between the associations:

The Green Girl Guides in Denmark are only for girls, the rest are open for both boys and girls.

FDF, KFUM and The Green Girl Guides are based on christianity and assosiated with the Danish national church. The scouts and guides of DDS are required to find their own belives and respect the belives of others.

The Green Girl Guides and DDS are members of WAGGGS , through their membership of The Joint Committee of Girl Guides in Denmark. KFUM and DDS are members of WOSM, through their membership of The Danish Scout Council.

FDF co-operates with other christian youth assosiations including the Boys' Brigade UK in the Global Fellowship of Christian Youth and with among others the German Katholische Junge Gemeinde and the Dutch Jong Nederland in FIMCAP.
