Monday 7 August: GOLDEN AGE DAY. Daytrip Batavia-stad near Lelystad

It is dry and sunny day today . By 10 am we have depated by coach to head on out to our day trip. Our destination today is the famous Shipyard Batavia-stad near Lelystad. (in the older Flevoland 7 m under sea level) At arrival a short introductory film tells us all about the shipyard. Here are made excellent copies of ships from the 17 th century; Here lays the beautiful ship; Batavia. You can visit it and the biggest attraction for children is, that one can climb on the rope ladders.
The tour guides tell us all about the ship. Another Golden Age ship thats been built here is the Ämsterdam", that lays now in Amsterdam in the water. At the moment they build the ship "De 7 provincien" the infamous ship of Admiral the Ruyter. On the frame of this particular ship we gathered up every paggs participant for a group photo.. All in 1 boat. it took us a while but we did it!
We spend time till 2 pm. At lunchtime is shooting the old cannons and music with singing well known seamen songs. "My bonny is over the ocean. What shall we do with the drunken sailor" etc.A happy performance special for us.You can watch the crafstmen and join in.
Next to the shipyard is a little imitation 17 th century town, called Batavia-stad with shops , souvenir shops and.... snackbars. Plenty of clients. Sitting in the sunshine with patates frites and drinks. A very interesting day getting to know the Golden Age At 4 am back. Preparing the hotmeal. Do you like carrots?? We keep busy.
At 8 pm there is in the woods a game. Based on the popular Sodoku puzzles Posts with tasks where you can collect a number for the puzzle. Great fun. It is quick dark and late. Bedtime
